On Tuesday, Ospreys confirmed they have signed a new Professional Rugby Agreement with the Welsh Rugby Union, becoming the third Welsh region to join the PRA program. The deal locks in cooperation until the end of the 2027‑28 season and is framed as a step toward long‑term stability for the club ahead of uncertain.

Despite the new pact, the region reported a £1.8m loss for its last financial year, underscoring the financial strain the club faces. The PRA includes deeper collaboration with the WRU, especially on playing‑side alignment, and aims to cement a solid foundation for future competitiveness in Welsh rugby across the nation and beyond the season lineup.

The announcement comes as the Ospreys prepare to relocate to a new stadium at St Helen's. With the PRA in place, the club can focus on rebuilding its infrastructure and nurturing talent without the immediate threat of financial instability. This move positions the Ospreys to compete more confidently in the upcoming seasons of Welsh rugby.

WRU chief executive Abi Tierney noted that three of the four regional men's clubs are now under PRA25, while work with the Scarlets continues. The board highlighted the collaborative spirit that has driven negotiations, citing progress on future development pathways. The PRA25 framework is expected to provide a stable platform for all Welsh professional teams.
