Ospreys post £1.8M loss, eye new PRA for stability

Ospreys released their latest accounts to June 2025, showing a £1.8 million loss, down from £2.18 million a year earlier. Turnover slipped £600,000 to £9.18 million while wages fell from £6.75 million to £6.4 million. The club received £5.4 million from the Welsh Rugby Union and backing from Y11 Sports & Media.

Director Nicolas Angio‑Morneau assured stakeholders that Y11 will keep funding under the RPI Deed of Undertaking and the 2023 Professional Rugby Agreement (PRA23). He added that the PRA23 ends 30 June 2027 and the club plans to sign the PRA25, which runs to 30 June 2028, to secure financial stability.

The club’s statement linked the new agreement to a planned move to St Helens, Swansea, where construction began after last season’s home games at Brewery Field. The Ospreys aim to play their first Swansea fixture against the Dragons on 24 October, marking a fresh start amid financial uncertainty.

Despite a 12th‑place finish in the 2024‑25 United Rugby Championship, the Ospreys have avoided a cut that the Welsh Rugby Union threatened in October 2025. With no new loans taken, the club relies on existing £3.44 million debt, mainly a 19‑year WRU post‑COVID loan, to bridge the gap until the PRA25 takes effect.
