The North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League reacted to the footage from a second XI Division 2 match between Saltburn and Norton that appeared to show fielder Brian Devine clicking his fingers to influence an umpire’s decision. The incident, dubbed “Clicky Ponting” in a tongue‑in‑cheek nod to former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, has already led to Devine’s suspension by the club for the foreseeable future.
