England fast bowler Mark Wood has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect at age 36. The Durham paceman, renowned as one of England's fastest bowlers, has been plagued by persistent injuries throughout his career. Wood returned to action in the first Ashes Test in Perth in November after 15 months out with an elbow injury and subsequent knee surgery, but bowled just 11 overs before swelling forced him home for treatment.
