England's Emily Campbell successfully defended her Commonwealth Games weightlifting title in the women's +86kg division, lifting a Games-record total of 278kg. The 32-year-old also set a new Commonwealth record in the clean and jerk with 163kg, alongside a 115kg snatch lift.

Campbell expressed her enjoyment of the sport, stating, "As an athlete, you always want to give your best performance, but the reason I've stayed in the sport so long is because I still genuinely enjoy lifting." Her dominant performance placed her 25kg ahead of silver medalist Siti Aqilah Farhana Draman of Malaysia, who lifted 253kg. Canadian Etta Mae Love secured the bronze with a total of 250kg.

The atmosphere in the venue was electric as Campbell, sporting lions braided into her bright red hair, delivered her record-breaking lifts. "The atmosphere out there was incredible. You couldn't really ask for the crowd to be any louder," she commented.
