Pace bowler Brydon Carse has been removed from England's squad for the second Test against Pakistan following an incident in Derby. Images showed the 31-year-old in handcuffs outside a bar on Saturday night. Derbyshire Police confirmed he was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly but was de-arrested after agreeing to leave the area.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) referred the matter to the Cricket Regulator, leading to Carse’s suspension while the investigation proceeds. He is replaced by Sonny Baker. This marks the third off-field disciplinary issue for an England player this summer, adding to recent controversies involving other team members.

Carse had played for Durham in the Division Two match against Derbyshire, which they won. The incident occurred just before he was set to join the squad in London for the Lord's Test. Although footage also featured teammate Matthew Potts and former captain Ben Stokes, only Carse has been sidelined thus far.

Despite previous bans, Carse has rebuilt his career, taking 58 wickets since his Test debut in October 2024. His omission offers Baker another chance, having earned his sole cap earlier this year.
