England bowler Brydon Carse is under investigation by the ECB after being reportedly involved in an incident at a nightclub in Derby on Saturday. Videos circulating on social media showed Carse in handcuffs, being led away by four police officers. The Durham bowler, who is in England's squad for the second Test against Pakistan, was seen with teammate Matthew Potts.

Carse was not on England duty at the time. The ECB confirmed it is investigating and will provide a further update when possible. The investigation comes five days after captain Joe Root urged players to be 'really good role models and human beings'.

England have faced a summer of turmoil, including Ben Stokes' retirement, Brendon McCullum's sacking, and past off-field incidents involving Harry Brook and team drinking during tours. Root recently scrapped the midnight curfew imposed earlier in the year. Carse, born in South Africa, was previously suspended for three months in 2024 for historic betting offences, having placed 303 bets on matches between 2017 and 2019, though he was not involved in any of them.
