Microsoft has confirmed via Xbox Wire that Xbox Insiders can now access free, ad-supported game streaming through their Xbox accounts, validating earlier rumors about an ad-supported tier for Xbox Cloud streaming.

The service is limited to games players already own and free-to-play titles, with sessions capped at one hour. Ads will play only at the start of sessions, and the feature works on any device supporting Xbox Cloud streaming. The only other restriction appears to be a 1440p resolution limit.

Microsoft outlined ad guidelines emphasizing player-first design, value creation, non-interruption of gameplay, quality parity with content, clear advertising labels, and platform-appropriate ad experiences.
