Dygma Lab, known for split ergonomic keyboards, has released its newest travel‑friendly model, the Sonsei. Moving away from the typical split design, the Sonsei uses an aluminium unibody inspired by Alice keyboards, offering a slimmer, cable‑light setup that is easier to carry than the ZSA Voyager or Mo Ergo Go60.

The keyboard keeps the columnar stagger layout of the Defy, positioning keys vertically for a natural resting place, and is a 56‑key compact layout that minimizes hand movement. Four thumb keys per side and a dedicated number row make an adjustment smoother, especially for users new to layers.

It uses Gateron KS‑33 2.0 Low‑Profile switches, giving a slim profile and wide aftermarket options, and is fully customizable via Dygma’s Bazecor software, available on Linux, macOS, Windows, and ARM.

Starting at $279, the Sonsei comes with a soft travel sleeve, a 120 cm USB‑Type‑C cable, a 50 cm cable, a 90° adapter, a keycap and switch puller, and two replacement switches. Internally, it features sound‑damping layers and a 2,000 mAh battery that can last over 40 days with backlighting off and at least 8 hours at full brightness.
