FDA Reports New Diarrhea Outbreak

The FDA has reported a new outbreak of explosive diarrhea, with 72 cases identified. This follows a recall by Taylor Farms of iceberg lettuce distributed to 27 states. The recall list was vague, leading to uncertainty about where the affected lettuce was sold.

While some lettuce was confirmed at Walmart, media reports indicated it also reached Jack in the Box restaurants, and distributors Sysco and US Foods. The lettuce was also found in blends with romaine. It remains unclear if this new outbreak is linked to the previous one.

The FDA is conducting a traceback investigation into potential food sources but has not provided specific details on the case locations or links. Both the FDA and CDC have reportedly been unresponsive to inquiries from media outlets regarding the new outbreak.
