Xbox has launched a disc-to-digital attestation program confirming the upcoming all-digital Helix console. Jason Ronald, VP of Next Generation, announced the program on Xbox Wire. The program allows players to claim a digital entitlement by inserting a supported disc into Xbox One or Series X and launching the game.

After activation, the game becomes playable on the console as well as via Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The initiative is part of Xbox's commitment to game preservation and serves as a test for the Helix console, which will launch with full backwards compatibility but no physical disc drive. The program is available for Xbox Insiders starting August 31, with the full list of supported games to be confirmed.

Players receive one revokable digital license per disc, and the disc remains playable. The interaction with the second-hand game market remains unclear.
