Micron Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) has opened a 60,000-square-foot Micron Training Center (MTC) in Boise, Idaho. This strategic investment aims to strengthen the skilled talent pipeline for advanced semiconductor manufacturing and expand education pathways in the region. Located near Micron's campus, the facility accelerates new-hire readiness through intensive onboarding boot camps and hands-on training in fab operations.

The MTC houses up to 20 semiconductor process tools replicating fab environments. Industry partners including Applied Materials, Lam Research, SCREEN, Kokusai Electric, and Tokyo Electron supported the equipment installation. The center also expands Micron’s partnership with the College of Western Idaho (CWI). Starting this fall, CWI will deliver its Advanced Mechatronics Engineering Technology (AMET) and Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (SMT) programs at the site.

To support this initiative, Micron and the U.S. Department of Commerce provided $3 million to CWI for educator pay and equipment. Boise Mayor Lauren Mc Lean praised the center as proof of community commitment to skill-building. Gordon Jones, president of CWI, highlighted the decade-long partnership creating meaningful careers. April Arnzen, Micron’s executive vice president, emphasized the facility’s role in sustaining U.S. leadership in semiconductor innovation.
