Intel Foundry has hired Shawn Han, a senior Samsung executive, to lead its customer acquisition efforts. Han will join Intel in May as senior VP and general manager of Foundry Services, reporting directly to Naga Chandrasekaran. The move signals Intel's aggressive strategy to compete in the competitive semiconductor foundry market.

Han brings 30 years of industry experience from Samsung, where he rose to Executive Vice President. He joined Samsung in 1996 as a senior engineer and eventually led the U.S. Foundry business, focusing on customer acquisition. His PhD in Material Science from Iowa State adds technical credibility to his commercial expertise.

The hiring comes as Intel expands its foundry services to challenge industry leaders like Samsung and TSMC. Han's proven track record across multiple process nodes and customer relationships positions him as a key asset in Intel's quest to establish itself as a credible third-party foundry option.
