The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) has signed a contract with HPE to deploy HammerHAI, the first standalone supercomputer under its AI Factories initiative. The AI-optimized system will be installed at the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) in Germany, marking a significant step in European digital sovereignty.

HammerHAI will be manufactured by HPE using NVIDIA GB200 NVL4 architecture, combining Grace CPUs with Blackwell GPUs and delivering over 15 Exaflops of AI inference performance. The system will feature VAST Data DASE storage and Axelera AI hardware accelerators, along with HPE Morpheus Enterprise software for unified AI control. This configuration positions HammerHAI as a powerful tool for medium-to-large scale AI workloads.

The supercomputer is scheduled for delivery in Q2 2026 and expected to begin operations in H2 2026. It will provide free access to eligible European users, supporting research and technology development in engineering, manufacturing, automotive, and mobility sectors. EuroHPC JU Executive Director Anders Jensen emphasized that HammerHAI will empower European startups and industry while reinforcing Europe's technological leadership.
