Over the week of August 17, multiple leaks emerged showing in-game content from recent builds of GTA VI, allegedly accessed by a leaker with hands-on experience of a pre-release version. According to Yahoo! Finance data, Take-Two's share price dropped roughly $15.29 per share compared to the Monday before the first leaks, resulting in a loss of $2.83 billion in market capitalization or a 2.54% decline in value over five days.

Take-Two has actively pursued takedown measures using DMCA notices, targeting videos that reveal NPC interactions, the full game map, and actual gameplay footage. The leaker, known as Cyberleek, claims to be protesting what they describe as anti-consumer practices by Rockstar and game publishers broadly.

Cyberleek's stated mission focuses on three principles: ending digital pre-orders, prohibiting the sale of single-player DLC already present in base game files, and ensuring preservation of single-player content through offline access. Their full manifesto criticizes industry trends toward monetization schemes and digital licensing models.

While the authenticity of the leaks remains uncertain, Take-Two's swift legal response and the detailed nature of recent gameplay footage suggest the leaker may indeed have access to a playable build of the highly anticipated title.
