Microsoft is investigating reports that the Windows 11 August update is causing games to crash and malfunction. According to an updated support document, titles like ARC Raiders, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and The Finals are experiencing forced crashes, random freezing, errors, and unexpected device restarts. The issues began following the release of Windows updates on August 11, 2026 (KB5121003) and later.

Gaming studios have acknowledged the problem after receiving complaints from both internal testing and gamers. Microsoft has confirmed the issue and is actively working to identify its cause. Official symptoms include games becoming unresponsive, closing without notice, displaying the error "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION," and devices restarting without warning.

Users experiencing these problems are encouraged to submit reports through the Feedback Hub to assist in the investigation.
