GPD pushed its Panther Lake mini‑PC, the Box, to Kickstarter with a $1,452 launch price. The base model packs an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H, 32 GB LPDDR5‑8533 RAM, and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. A step‑up version swaps the CPU for a Core Ultra X7 358H and boosts the iGPU to an Arc B390 while keeping the compact 175 × 134 × 39.5 mm form factor for tight workspaces.

The Box’s standout feature is an MCIO 8i port delivering 512 Gbps bidirectional bandwidth, effectively matching a PCIe 5.0 ×8 cable. Dual USB4 v2.0 ports supplement connectivity, while two 2.5 GbE RJ45 links support link aggregation. Wi‑Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 round out the wireless stack. The design also includes a 3.5 mm audio jack, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type‑A ports, and a DP 2.1 UHBR20 output display.

Customers can bundle the Box with GPD’s G2 MCIO eGPU dock, which ships with an 800 W ATX 3.1 PSU and dual GPU power cables, but buyers must supply their own GPU. The dock itself starts at $385 on Kickstarter. This configuration unlocks high‑throughput GPU workloads while keeping the chassis small for developers and enthusiasts that value.

At 175 × 134 × 39.5 mm, the Box offers a dense I/O lineup: two USB4, two USB 3.2, a DP 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and the MCIO port. With its powerful Core Ultra X7 variant and optional eGPU dock, the system targets creators seeking portable, high‑performance workstations without a full desktop in the industry, where compact designs compete against larger units that demand more cooling and power.
