AMD confirmed its first Zen 6 server CPUs, codenamed "Venice," will debut at the Advancing AI event on July 22-23. CTO Mark Papermaster stated these processors are optimized for traditional x86 enterprise workloads, acknowledging that businesses are not moving away from the architecture. The "Venice" chips are manufactured on TSMC's 2 nm process, marking a significant advancement for high-performance computing on this node.

The flagship "Venice" configuration will feature up to 256 Zen 6 cores, a substantial increase from the current 192-core EPYC "Turin" series. AMD claims these new CPUs offer over 70% higher performance and efficiency compared to their Zen 5 predecessors. The platform supports the new SP7 socket with 16-channel memory, providing up to 1.6 TB/s bandwidth, and incorporates PCIe Gen 6 to enhance CPU-to-GPU communication, particularly for AI accelerator workloads. These server CPUs will be paired with AMD Instinct MI455 GPUs in Helios racks.

While the "Venice" server launch is imminent, consumer-向け Zen 6 desktop and mobile chips are expected later. Rumored desktop parts include Ryzen Threadripper TR6 "Mustang Peak" and Ryzen 10000 series "Olympic Ridge," alongside "Medusa Point" APUs. However, these consumer products are not anticipated before the end of the year, with CES 2027 being a likely debut window. The "Venice" launch signals AMD's continued push in the data center and AI acceleration markets, leveraging advanced manufacturing processes and increased core counts.
