Following its split from Xbox amid Microsoft's year-long "reset," game studio Double Fine will host its first Amnesia Fortnight since 2019. The game jam event allows the studio to pitch ideas and lets the community vote on which concepts become prototypes. Accompanied by a Kickstarter campaign to "help support our newly (re)gained independence," backers will vote for four finalists, one of which will become a real game.

The jam starts August 31 and runs through most of the month, with 2 Player Productions filming a documentary. This marks Double Fine's first major initiative since separating from Xbox; the studio previously launched Kiln and created classics like Psychonauts and Brutal Legend. In late June, Double Fine laid off 25% of its staff citing financial sustainability after the separation.

The studio is among a handful that split from Xbox after CEO Asha Sharma restructured the company.
