Robert Hallock, Intel's VP and general manager of the enthusiast business, confirmed in an interview with Tom's Hardware that desktop PC DIY enthusiasts are the first to experience Intel's latest CPU cores. Hallock hinted at the upcoming "Nova Lake-S" processor generation, emphasizing that Intel prioritizes bringing its newest cores to desktops first. Unlike AMD, which introduces its latest core designs in the server segment with products like EPYC "Venice" before moving to desktop CPUs, Intel debuts them on the desktop platform. The "Coyote Cove" P-Cores and "Arctic Wolf" E-Cores will first be available for desktops, while AMD's Zen 6 technology follows a server-first approach. Hallock stated, "I have a new core. It's coming to desktop first," suggesting enthusiasts should anticipate the release. While Intel's Xeon 7 "Diamond Rapids" will eventually feature the "Coyote Cove" P-Cores, the server platform will only arrive after desktop users have had access to the new designs. The "Nova Lake-S" rollout is expected to begin in January 2027, with the server Xeon 7 platform featuring the same core technology arriving later in the year.
