AMD Rebrands Anti-Lag 2 as FSR Latency Reduction 2.0, Deepening FSR Ecosystem

AMD has quietly renamed its Anti-Lag 2 technology to FSR Latency Reduction 2.0, a strategic move aligning with its broader rebranding of FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technologies. This change, first detected in the AMD FSR SDK 2.2 source code, reflects AMD's ongoing effort to unify its graphics features under the FSR umbrella. Previously, Anti-Lag 2 operated separately from the core FSR package, but now it's integrated as the fifth potential component of the FSR 'Redstone' suite, which currently includes FSR Upscaling, Frame Generation, Ray Regeneration, and Radiance Caching.

This renaming signals a potential expansion of the FSR ecosystem beyond just upscaling and frame generation, aiming to reduce latency through improved CPU and GPU coordination. While AMD hasn't formally announced the change, the shift is evident on its product pages and suggests a concerted push to standardize the FSR brand across all related technologies.
