AMD Hikes Radeon GPU Kit Prices 10% Starting July

AMD plans a 10% price increase on Radeon GPU kits starting this July, according to Chinese Board Channels. The kits bundle a GPU die with GDDR6 memory sourced from SK hynix, Samsung, or Micron, sparing add-in board partners like Sapphire, ASUS, and XFX from procuring memory independently. AMD's volume purchasing typically secures better terms, but tightening GDDR supply has forced the hike.

The increase targets the kit itself — only one component of a finished graphics card's bill of materials. Board partners still bear PCB engineering, cooling assembly, validation, and warranty costs. That means retail prices likely won't jump the full 10%, though AIBs historically pass component increases downstream. Timing varies: existing inventory may hold current pricing, but retailers often adjust immediately on supply-chain signals.

Board Channels had forecast Q3 increases, but July's move suggests memory constraints are accelerating. GDDR6 scarcity affects the entire discrete GPU market, not just AMD — Nvidia faces similar pressure. For DIY builders, the practical impact depends on whether partners absorb margins or push costs to shelves. Previous cycles saw street prices climb within weeks of kit hikes.

With no supply relief visible, further increases through Q3 remain plausible. AMD hasn't commented publicly, and partners including PowerColor and Gainward have stayed silent on retail timelines. Anyone planning a Radeon purchase this summer should expect higher prices by August.
