NVIDIA has reportedly informed its add-in card partners of a new price increase for GPU kits, affecting both GDDR7 and GDDR6 memory. This adjustment is not confined to newer Blackwell architecture cards and may impact older GeForce products still utilizing GDDR6. The news follows a similar price adjustment for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D V2 in May.

NVIDIA bundles GPUs with VRAM as kits for its board partners. Consequently, any rise in memory costs is typically passed on to consumers. Reports indicate that partners are also facing increased expenses for coolers, PCBs, and packaging, though these are secondary to the memory cost hikes.

The RTX 50 SUPER series is also subject to these changes. Previously, it was reported that the release of these cards was partly delayed due to the high cost of 3 GB GDDR7 modules, estimated at $60-$70 each, significantly more than GDDR6 equivalents. This price pressure is expected to lead to a substantial premium on SUPER cards, such as the RTX 5070 SUPER, RTX 5070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 5080 SUPER, which are slated for higher capacities of GDDR7 memory.

GPU prices have already seen substantial increases of 20-30%. This latest round of kit price hikes signals further upward pressure on the cost of graphics cards, with even previous-generation GDDR6-equipped cards potentially becoming more expensive.
