AMD FSR 4.1 Support for RDNA 3.5 APUs Remains Unclear

AMD's Frank Azor pushed back against reports suggesting the company has ruled out FSR 4.1 support for RDNA 3.5-based integrated graphics. The confusion centers on Ryzen AI 300 and 400 series APUs that would miss the upscaling technology if true.

Hardware Luxx initially reported that AMD does not plan to bring FSR 4.1 to APUs using the RDNA 3.5 architecture, including Strix Point, Strix Halo, and Krackan Point configurations. These processors integrate capable iGPUs like the Radeon 890M and Radeon 8060S that can handle the required INT8 processing.

AMD previously confirmed FSR 4.1 arrives for discrete RDNA 3 GPUs in July, with RDNA 2 desktop graphics support following by early 2027. Azor's response indicates no final decision has been made, leaving the technology roadmap for RDNA 3.5 graphics uncertain.

The situation matters because integrated graphics users increasingly rely on upscaling technologies for gaming performance. Without FSR 4.1, these APUs would lack the latest optimization features available to discrete GPU owners, potentially affecting buyer decisions in the competitive laptop and desktop market.
