Gaming & Consoles
Cloud Imperium Games has published the Steam store page for Squadron 42, the single-player companion to Star Citizen, with a mid-2027 release window now on record. Jailbroken PS5 owners can also stream Xbox titles through a homebrew tool, as PSBox brings Xbox Cloud Gaming to Sony's console. A separate app, Overdrive, is circulating on X with claims of free games and DLC, though those claims remain unverified.
Epic Games is reportedly shifting toward an AI-first development model, with the delayed Disney shooter serving as the first test case. Epic has long supported generative AI in its tooling, and the move would mark a notable change in how a major studio approaches production. Meanwhile, No Man's Sky arrives on iPhone and iPad after a decade-long redemption arc, requiring an iPhone 11 or later.
Hardware & Semiconductors
Intel has unveiled its D-Series "Crescent Island" GPU, which supports up to 480 GB of LPDDR5X memory aimed at inference workloads. Reports also indicate Intel is preparing price increases of up to 20% on Panther Lake and older generations. Global Foundries, meanwhile, is re-entering the advanced-node race with its 7 nm-class FDX Fusion process technology.
AMD addressed the Radeon RX 7000 vBIOS patch after Sapphire and Gigabyte began distributing updates, while reports suggest RDNA 5 GPUs are now likely to arrive in the second half of 2027. Taiwanese outlet Bench Life, expanding on last week's report, says an RTX 5080 24 GB variant may launch in Q1 2027, though board partners appear unaware of the plan. On the memory front, Team Group's XTREEM DDR5-6400 32 GB CL32 kit earned a favorable review.
Data Center & AI Infrastructure
Microsoft launched its Maia 300 compute processor for Azure, its largest in-house chip to date. AMD introduced the Helion rack for agentic AI, and Astera Labs unveiled Orion, a compute-agnostic rack architecture. ASUS introduced the XA P2N-E2 server built around NVIDIA's Vera CPU, and INNO3D announced the AGS-4UMGX-R1 4U GPU server. d-Matrix revealed its Squadron multi-rack inference systems, and Marvell launched its second-generation Structera X CXL 3.2 memory expanders.
Storage and memory suppliers are also benefiting from AI demand. Nanya reported Q3 2026 revenue growth of 61.9% in its quarterly results, and KIOXIA added direct liquid cooling support for its enterprise SSDs. Amazon, meanwhile, now operates over one million robot workers, raising questions about the future of its human workforce.
Consumer Devices & Software
Google announced the Fitbit Edge, positioned between the Pixel Watch 5 and the Fitbit Air. Nex Computer's NexPhone, a pocket device running Android, Linux, and Windows, is slated for a 2027 launch. Valve published Steam Frame CAD files to support DIY VR accessories, and Nintendo confirmed that physical Switch 2 games will remain available. Microsoft's Visual Studio Professional 2026 is on sale for $29.97, and an AdGuard family plan covering nine devices is priced at $14.97. Microsoft also introduced incomplete dark mode to some legacy Windows 11 interfaces.
Hardware Accessories & Peripherals
Boulies launched its EP600 adaptive ergonomic chair, and Montech unveiled CyberFlow AIO coolers. AMD also introduced the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 developer platform, and NZXT's H6 RGB+ case received a review.
Security, Policy & Infrastructure Risk
Anthropic's Claude AI reportedly submitted a false murder tip to Philadelphia police, raising concerns about AI systems acting autonomously in investigative contexts. Separately, Ukrainian drone strikes have disrupted Yandex data centers across Russia, with bloggers warning that the country's hyper-centralized digital economy is exposed. In a separate public health story, a sixth measles death in Pennsylvania was reported, with state officials tallying 1,136 cases across 41 counties.
Gaming Titles & Live Services
Embark Studios is preparing to split Arc Raiders into separate PvE and PvPvE experiences following an upcoming test, a move that has been requested by a segment of the player base for some time.
