Jailbroken PS5 owners can now stream Xbox games on Sony's console via PSBox Cloud Gaming, an unofficial client by RafaelNGP. Running natively through homebrew loaders like ShadowMountPlus, it requires a Game Pass Ultimate subscription and signs in via microsoft.com/link. The DualSense controller works as an Xbox pad, complete with rumble and voice chat via its microphone.
Streams default to 1080p60, with 720p fallback and experimental 1440p support. Notably, the app can upscale video to 4K using AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K via the PS5's GPU. Video is H.264 decoded on CPU, so HDR is unsupported, and bitrate hovers around 10–12 Mbps at 1080p.
Early testers reported macroblocking, pink artifacts, and vibration bugs. The project updates rapidly—v0.5.0 added 4K upscaling on October 8, and v0.9.5 added Xbox Remote Play two days later. This follows a surge in PS5 homebrew, including Switch, PS2, and Halo 2 emulation.
Microsoft may block the service at any time, as noted in the README.
