Crystal Palace have appointed Pierre Sage as their new manager on a contract running until summer 2029. The 47-year-old Frenchman joins from Ligue 1 side RC Lens after Palace agreed a compensation package with the French club. Sage emerged as the preferred candidate following Andoni Iraola's appointment at Liverpool.

Oliver Glasner's departure after leading Palace to their most successful period created the vacancy. The Austrian guided the Eagles to FA Cup glory and Conference League victory in May before opting not to extend his contract beyond June 30. Sage inherits a squad fresh off multiple major trophies - the first silverware in the club's history.

At Lens, Sage achieved remarkable success by securing second place in Ligue 1 and winning the Coupe de France - the club's first trophy since 1998. Palace chairman Steve Parish praised Sage's trophy-winning credentials as the Eagles prepare for another European campaign. Both managers favor attacking football with a back three system.

Sage brings momentum from Lens's historic season, where they challenged Paris Saint-Germain for the title. His appointment signals Palace's ambition to build on their recent success rather than rebuild from scratch. The Frenchman faces the challenge of adapting to English football while maintaining the winning culture established under Glasner.
