Japan's Kota Kaneko secured his maiden DP World Tour victory at the Austrian Alpine Open, claiming his first European title in just his 12th tour appearance. The 23-year-old shot a final-round 67 to finish at 18 under, two strokes clear of America's Davis Bryant and Portugal's Ricardo Gouveia.

Kaneko entered the event in strong form after a tied-second finish at last week's Soudal Open. He held a one-shot lead heading into the final day after three consecutive 65s. Despite a 71-minute weather delay and some nervy moments, including a lucky escape at the 18th where his tee shot hit the stand behind the hole, Kaneko made the crucial par to seal victory.

England's Andrew 'Beef' Johnston, who led after three rounds, faded with a second consecutive even-par round to finish seven shots back in a tie for 17th. Kaneko's victory continues Japan's growing presence on the European circuit. The DP World Tour now moves to the Netherlands for the KLM Open, live on Sky Sports Golf, where Kaneko will look to build on his breakthrough win.
