Rangers have secured midfielder Dan Neil on a three-year deal, beating Southampton to the 24-year-old's signature. Neil left Sunderland after making 201 senior appearances and captaining the club to Premier League promotion via the play-offs in 2024/25. The former England youth international spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich Town.

Speaking to Rangers TV, Neil highlighted his motivation for the move: the expectation from fans to win every week. Manager Derek McInnes praised his new signing as a technically gifted midfielder who brings energy, goals and leadership qualities to the squad. Neil becomes Rangers' latest summer addition alongside Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey and Ivor Pandur.

Rangers begin their campaign under McInnes at Dundee United on July 31, kicking off a historic opening weekend where all six Scottish Premiership matches will air live on Sky Sports. This represents McInnes's first competitive match in charge since replacing Danny Röhl as manager.

Neil's arrival strengthens Rangers' midfield options ahead of their title challenge, bringing proven Championship experience and a winning mentality from his Sunderland days.
