Ex-Kings Trainer Sues Over Pregnancy Discrimination Claims

Crystal Lee, a former assistant athletic trainer for the Sacramento Kings, has filed a civil lawsuit in California Superior Court alleging pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. According to the suit, Lee was demoted during and after her pregnancy and was eventually fired less than a month after raising her complaints with the team's senior vice president of human resources.

The lawsuit claims that Jaspreet Randhawa, the Kings' senior director of athlete health, told Lee "You're f---ed" when she announced her pregnancy and later said her life "is ruined after you have kids." Lee alleges she was prevented from traveling with the team and treating players after returning from maternity leave. The suit also states that the Kings demoted her in April 2023 from assistant athletic trainer to a remote role and later removed her title entirely in September 2024.

The Kings responded with a statement saying they "categorically deny these allegations" and that they are committed to maintaining a respectful workplace. Their attorney, Alexis Gabrielson, said the organization intends to "vigorously defend against these claims through the legal process."

Lee is seeking unspecified damages. Messages left with Lee's attorneys and the NBA were not immediately returned to ESPN.
