Mohamed Salah has joined Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor on a free transfer, signing a two-year deal after mutually terminating his Liverpool contract a year early. The move ends a nine-year spell at Anfield where he became the club's third-highest goalscorer with 257 goals in 442 appearances, lifting seven major trophies.

The 34-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with Liverpool previously rejecting a £150m offer from Al Ittihad. His departure follows a difficult final season under head coach Arne Slot, which saw him dropped and publicly fall out with the manager.

Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher questioned the move, stating Turkey feels "a level too low" for a player of Salah's caliber. Carragher expected a move to Serie A clubs like AC Milan or Juventus, suggesting wage demands may have limited his options at prestigious European clubs.
