Derek McInnes is still seeking his first win as Rangers manager after a 2-1 defeat to Jagiellonia Bialystok in Europa League qualifying. Rangers took an early lead through an own goal by Guilherme Montoia, but Jagiellonia equalized when Manny Fernandez turned in Kajetan Szmyt's cross.

Szmyt then capitalized on poor defending to score Jagiellonia's second before halftime. Despite substitutions improving Rangers' attack in the second half, they couldn't find an equalizer. Late chances from Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin, who hit the post in stoppage time, went begging.

The result leaves Rangers with a significant challenge in the second leg at Ibrox. The winners advance to the Europa League play-off round, while the losers drop to the Conference League play-offs. Despite the disappointment, Rangers' improved second-half performance offers some hope for the return fixture.
