Major League Soccer has banned Derrick Jones and Yaw Yeboah for life after an investigation revealed they bet on soccer games, including matches involving their own teams. The league launched the probe in October 2025 after suspicious betting alerts triggered an internal review, with both players placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.

According to MLS, the players wagered extensively during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In one notable instance, both bet on Jones to receive a yellow card during an October 19, 2024 match, which he did. While the investigation found no evidence that their betting affected match outcomes, MLS Commissioner Don Garber emphasized the league's commitment to maintaining competition integrity and called for banning yellow card wagering nationwide.

The suspensions mark a significant escalation in MLS's gambling enforcement. Jones played for five different MLS teams including Philadelphia Union and Nashville SC, while Yeboah began with Columbus Crew in 2022 before joining LAFC. Both were teammates on Columbus during the 2024 season. Neither player currently holds an MLS contract.
