Hilary Knight is on the move again, this time heading to the PWHL's expansion Detroit franchise through a sign-and-trade agreement with Las Vegas. The deal requires Knight to first sign a foundational contract with Las Vegas before being dealt to Detroit in exchange for the team's first-round draft pick next week.

The 36-year-old Knight, a five-time U.S. Olympian, recently captained Team USA to gold at the Milan Cortina Games where she scored the championship-clinching goal against Canada. She spent her first two PWHL seasons in Boston before joining Seattle last year. Knight posted five goals and 14 points in 22 games this season before missing the final two months with a lower body injury.

Detroit used its foundational contract slot on Toronto forward Daryl Watts last week and filled its fifth expansion spot by signing Jesse Compher to a three-year deal. Knight reunites with newly hired coach Josh Sciba, who served as her assistant on the U.S. Olympic team. The trade becomes official when the PWHL's trade freeze lifts on June 16.

This marks Knight's second consecutive offseason relocation. She previously played for Boston before Seattle, where the Torrent could only protect three players and chose to shield Alex Carpenter, Anna Wilgren and Hannah Murphy instead.
