Five-time Olympian Hilary Knight signed a two-year contract extension with PWHL Detroit on Thursday, securing her services through the 2028-29 season. The deal comes after Detroit acquired Knight in a sign-and-trade with fellow expansion team Las Vegas earlier this month, marking another step in building their inaugural roster.

Knight, 36, now joins her fourth professional team after spending her first two PWHL seasons in Boston before playing for expansion Seattle Torrent last season. Detroit used their foundational offer to lock up the veteran forward, who brings significant experience and leadership to the fledgling franchise.

"I can't wait to get to Detroit and start helping build the team's foundation over the next three years," Knight said, citing GM Manon Rheaume's vision. She joins fellow U.S. Olympians Britta Curl-Salemme, Hannah Bilka, and Cayla Barnes on the roster.

Knight scored the game-tying goal in Team USA's 2-1 overtime victory over Canada at the Milan Cortina Games, winning her second Olympic gold medal. She accomplished this despite playing through a knee injury that ended her PWHL season prematurely. While the Olympics marked her final international competition, Knight confirmed she planned to continue her professional career.
