The 2027 NHL draft cycle officially began following the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and World Junior Showcase, with ESPN releasing its watch list of nine top prospects.

Landon Du Pont, D from the University of Michigan, is the consensus top overall pick. Despite being 5-foot-11, his play-driving ability and 25+ minutes per game in Everett's WHL championship run make him a standout.

Brock England, C from the Seattle Thunderbirds, combines elite speed with high-end creativity. The youngest player in the class (born Aug. 22, 2009) needs to improve his gear changes to maximize his offensive potential.

Alexis Joseph, a 6-4, 205-pound center from Saint John (QMJHL), has incredible size and finishing ability but inconsistent competitiveness. His season will be closely watched to see if he can recapture his 16-year-old form.

Sammy Nelson, F from Notre Dame, could be a top-10 pick if born weeks earlier. His speed and two-way play make him a strong candidate for top-five consideration.

Jonah Neuenschwander, F from Switzerland's EHC Biel-Bienne, is a 6-4 versatile forward improving in the Swiss NL. His all-situations play could make him a coveted commodity.

Nazar Privalov, F from CSKA Moscow, is a 6-4, 215-pound power forward with a strong shot. Playing KHL minutes as a draft-eligible player is rare, adding intrigue to his top-three talent.

Sergei Skvortsov, F from Russia, led his MHL team in scoring at 16. His offensive instincts and surprising release could carry him to a top-six NHL role.

Milan Sundstrom, C from Sweden's Mo Do, has the most refined defensive game among top centers. His translatable NHL tools make him a safe middle-six candidate.
