The Dallas Cowboys have bolstered their secondary by agreeing to a three-year, $33 million contract with safety Jalen Thompson, sources confirmed to ESPN. The move comes just hours after the Cowboys acquired defensive end Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers, signaling a busy day of defensive upgrades in Dallas.

Thompson, 27, spent his entire NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals after they selected him in the 2019 supplemental draft out of Washington State. He formed a formidable tandem with Budda Baker in Arizona's secondary, establishing himself as one of the league's more reliable safeties. Last season, Thompson played in 15 games, recording 95 tackles, one interception, and allowing a career-low 62.3% completion rate when targeted.

Throughout his career, Thompson has accumulated nine interceptions, 37 passes defended, and 578 tackles. His addition provides the Cowboys with experienced depth at safety and a proven playmaker who can contribute immediately to Dan Quinn's defensive scheme. The former Cardinal brings both tackling ability and coverage skills that should complement the Cowboys' existing defensive backs.
