An investigation into New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith regarding an alleged battery incident last month has been closed, with no charges to be filed. The Davie, Florida, Police Department confirmed the outcome to ESPN, stating that no further investigative steps could be taken with the available information. The case report indicated that neither Smith nor the accuser provided requested follow-up statements.

Police were initially called to Smith's home on June 21 after a woman, claiming to be his ex-girlfriend, alleged assault. She had posted a video to Instagram of a dispute. Officers observed scratches on Smith's face and a knot on his head, while the woman reported a cut on her hand and a bruise on her arm. The report cited conflicting stories, lack of witnesses, and inability to review surveillance footage as reasons for not determining a primary aggressor.

The woman, identified as Smith's manager, was subsequently trespassed from his residence. Smith, 35, has not publicly commented, nor have the Jets. The NFL may still review the matter under its personal conduct policy. Smith was reacquired by the Jets in a March trade and named their 2026 starter.
