The New York Yankees exploded for 13 runs in a single inning, the first time in 21 years, to beat the Oakland Athletics 13‑8 in Sacramento. Jacob Lopez retired all six Yankees in the first two frames, but surrendered a single from Anthony Volpe to start a 43‑minute outburst.

The inning produced 11 hits and four walks as 18 batters reached the plate and faced 75 pitches, the most productive stretch since the 2005 eighth‑inning surge against Tampa Bay. Aaron Judge added a blooper single, while Cody Bellinger hit an RBI single that capped the rally.

Lopez walked two after Volpe’s hit and failed to cover first on Paul Goldschmidt’s grounder, allowing an infield single. Ben Rice followed with a two‑run double, and the next five batters reached safely against reliever Michael Kelly, the first time in 17 seasons a team began an inning with 12 straight hitters getting on base.

All nine Yankees batters who reached safely recorded a hit or RBI, with Austin Wells the only player without a hit. The assault marked the second time since 2000 a team scored 13 runs in an inning without a homer, underscoring the Athletics’ pitching collapse and bolstering New York’s lead in the AL East.
