Rodríguez exits Mariners loss with hamstring issue

Seattle dropped a 5-3 decision to the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday night, and outfielder Julio Rodríguez left the game after a strikeout ended the sixth inning. He walked to the team trainer in the dugout, and manager Dan Wilson later confirmed a hamstring spasm forced his exit.

Rodríguez finished 1-for-3 with a double, bringing his career totals to 125 doubles, 125 homers and 125 stolen bases. He reached the benchmark in 665 games, making him the third‑fastest player ever to join the ‘125 club.’ Only Ronald Acuña Jr. (591 games) and Alfonso Soriano (643 games) achieved it more quickly.

The injury comes as Seattle chases a playoff spot in a tightly packed AL West, and Rodríguez’s absence could strain a lineup already missing key contributors. His blend of power, speed and gap hitting has been central to the Mariners’ offense; losing him for even a short stretch forces manager Dan Wilson to rely on depth players.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said the team will monitor the hamstring closely and follow the trainer’s protocol before deciding on Rodríguez’s return. Seattle’s next series against the Texas Rangers offers a chance to test the replacement’s production, but the club hopes the star returns soon to keep pace with division rivals.
