Seattle's left‑field starter Randy Arozarena left Friday night’s home game against Washington after limping off in the third inning. The 31‑year‑old had chased down a ground ball, felt the injury and was replaced by Luke Raley in left and Victor Robles shifting to right. The move gave Raley his first defensive start of the season, while Robles shifted to cover the right‑field gap. His early exit forced Seattle to reshuffle its outfield.

Arozarena, a two‑time All‑Star and 2021 AL Rookie of the Year, was hitting .291 with seven homers and 33 RBIs before departing. He stole his 19th base in the second inning, underscoring his speed. The injury removes one of three Mariners who have played every game this season, joining Julio Rodríguez and Cole Young in the lineup for Seattle's upcoming stretch now.

Seattle trails the AL West by a game and will need Arozarena’s bat and legs to sustain its push. Manager Scott Servais said the team will assess the injury before deciding on a return timeline. Until then, the Mariners will rely on Raley’s defense and Robles’ arm in the outfield.
