New York Yankees left-hander Max Fried advanced his comeback from a bone bruise in his left elbow, throwing roughly 30 pitches across two innings in a simulated game Tuesday. The veteran faced Ryan McMahon and Trent Grisham, both positioned to return from the injured list Friday. Fried showed encouraging form during his 20-minute mound session.

Manager Aaron Boone praised Fried's performance, saying his stuff looked sharp and he was throwing well. McMahon, recovering from a throat infection, noted Fried threw every pitch effectively with curveballs and sweepers landing for strikes. Grisham, coming back from a hamstring strain, saw about 10 pitches and struck out in his first at-bat against the rehabbing starter.

Fried has been sidelined since May 13 after exiting a start in Baltimore when his velocity dropped significantly. Before the injury, he posted a 3.21 ERA in 10 starts following his $218 million contract signing in December 2024. He went 19-5 with a 2.86 ERA in his first season with New York.

Meanwhile, Jazz Chisholm Jr. passed concussion protocol after Monday's violent collision with outfielder Jasson Domínguez. Chisholm wasn't in Tuesday's lineup, with José Caballero making his third start at second base in his absence.
