Brewers Rally Tortoise Replaces Banned Pocket Pancakes

The Milwaukee Brewers have found a new dugout mascot after manager Pat Murphy's famous 'pocket pancakes' were banned by a reporter. During a pregame interview with Apple TV's Tricia Whitaker, Murphy was told he couldn't eat pancakes during broadcasts, so he pulled out a tortoise instead, naming it Bobby Jr. after Royals star Bobby Witt Jr.

The pancake tradition began last August when Murphy was caught eating pancakes from his hoodie pocket during a nationally televised game against the Nationals. The moment went viral, leading the Brewers to sell 'Murph's Pocket Pancakes' as concession items at American Family Field. The tortoise, later identified as a sulcata tortoise that can live 70 years and grow to 100 pounds, was left behind in Kansas City when Whitaker couldn't fly it home due to American Airlines' no reptiles policy.

The reptile is now living under a heat lamp in the visiting clubhouse at Kauffman Stadium. While players suggested keeping it as a 'rally turtle' if they win, the plan is to find Bobby Jr. a permanent home. The Brewers' quirky dugout traditions continue to capture fan attention and provide lighthearted moments in the baseball season.
