Kerley to Run Clean at Enhanced Games, Eyes 2028 Olympics

Fred Kerley says he will compete clean at this weekend's Enhanced Games in Las Vegas, declaring he doesn't need performance enhancers to showcase his talent. The 2022 world 100-meter champion, currently serving a two-year ban from the traditional track circuit until August 2027 for missing doping tests, also confirmed he plans to run at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

The ban, issued by the Athletics Integrity Unit in March, stemmed from Kerley's refusal to answer what he described as spam calls from Mexico while in the U.S. He called the antidoping system's 24/7 whereabouts requirements "disrespectful and intrusive." Kerley insisted his move to the breakaway league had nothing to do with taking drugs and everything to do with a multimillion-dollar contract, reportedly around $12 million, that he suggested would be needed to lure him away from traditional track.

The Enhanced Games offer a $1 million prize for breaking Usain Bolt's 9.58-second world record, and Kerley predicted the mark would be "destroyed" this weekend. He has spent much of 2026 criticizing antidoping authorities on social media while teasing a potential 9.4-second run. Other athletes, including Olympic gold medalist Hunter Armstrong, say they will also compete clean despite the event allowing performance enhancers under doctor supervision.
