Enhanced Games Spark Doping Controversy

The controversial Enhanced Games debut in Las Vegas on Sunday, allowing athletes to use performance-enhancing substances banned by traditional sporting events. Funded by cryptocurrency investors including Donald Trump Jr.'s firm, the event offers a $25 million prize pot and permits FDA-approved substances that would violate WADA rules, earning it the nickname "Steroid Olympics."

British Olympic swimmer Ben Proud, who won silver in Paris, retired from international competition to join the event alongside fellow swimmers Emily Barclay and sprinter Reece Prescod. All three face permanent bans from traditional sports. The games track, swimming, weightlifting and strongman events feature 42 athletes exploring performance limits with medical safety protocols.

American sprinter Fred Kerley and Ukraine's Andriy Govorov headline the international field. UK Anti-Doping Agency CEO Jane Rumble condemned the event, stating it "flies in the face of fair play" and insisting "there is no safe way to dope." The competition challenges traditional sports ethics by prioritizing performance enhancement over clean competition.
