Josh Allen and the Bills' healthy starters will play Saturday in the team's first game at their new stadium, per coach Joe Brady. Meanwhile, Cardinals quarterback Carson Beck is out for Thursday's preseason opener against the Raiders due to a rib injury from the Hall of Fame Game, derailing a hoped-for rematch with fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders. The Browns will start Deshaun Watson in their preseason opener Saturday in Chicago, while Shedeur Sanders will start the second preseason game. Bo Nix is sitting out Denver's preseason opener Friday as he continues recovering from ankle surgeries; the Broncos expect him to play in the final two warmup games. Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka suffered a minor toe injury during a joint practice with the Jets on Wednesday and did not return. Ricky Pearsall had successful knee surgery and faces roughly nine months of recovery before he can return to the 49ers.

Tempers flared at Eagles camp as a testy scuffle between defensive tackle Moro Ojomo and offensive tackle Fred Johnson nearly resulted in injury. In Washington, Dan Quinn is re-energizing the Commanders with spelling bees, basketball shootouts and coaching changes after a 5-12 season.
