Wynnchurch Capital portfolio company ORS Nasco has announced the acquisitions of Techniweld & Power Weld and of the Boardwalk, GEN and Windsoft brands from Essendant, a portfolio company of Sycamore Partners. No financial terms were disclosed.
Techniweld is a Canadian wholesaler supplying distributors with gas and arc welding equipment, filler metals, safety products and related accessories. In the US, it operates under the Power Weld brand. The deal adds to ORS's 2025 acquisition of Techniweld USA and its 2026 purchase of Alliance Distribution, further extending its welding footprint across North America.
The Essendant brands each serve a different market. Boardwalk sells janitorial and sanitation, industrial and foodservice products. GEN supplies value-oriented products to high-volume facilities such as restaurants, airports and shopping centers. Windsoft focuses on towel and tissue products. Together, the brands broaden ORS's offering across janitorial, sanitation, paper and foodservice categories.
The deal reconnects ORS with its former owner. Essendant owned ORS until carving it out in 2019, and the brand acquisition marks another corporate carve-out for ORS and Wynnchurch. ORS is a wholesaler of industrial maintenance, repair and operations products, serving customers across the US, Canada and the Middle East from 13 distribution locations, with about 190,000 SKUs sourced from more than 250 original equipment manufacturers.
Wynnchurch, which has been investing in industrial businesses for more than 25 years, manages about $9.1 billion in assets and is investing from its sixth private equity fund. Foley & Lardner was legal adviser to ORS and Wynnchurch.
