Apple unveiled watchOS 27 this fall, bringing a modest slate of updates to the Apple Watch. The new OS centers on a Siri AI integration that mirrors iPhone functionality, but it requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer to function. Users can access Siri conversations directly from a dedicated watch app, streamlining voice commands on wrist for everyday tasks and notifications.

watchOS 27 introduces a dynamic app grid activated by the Digital Crown, placing the Siri app front and center while surfacing used apps. Apple also refined Liquid Glass, improving contrast and refraction for clearer readability. Workout Buddy now works offline, tracking progressive metrics, and Cycle Tracking added menopause recognition, enhancing health monitoring for a broader user base.

New Smart Stack gestures let users tap to select widgets, bringing shortcuts for parked cars, pinned messages, transit cards, noise alerts, and birthday reminders. During calls, the watch displays relevant data like flight confirmation numbers. Custom Wallet passes now sync to the watch, and a unified Find My app supports Precision Finding for AirPods Pro 3 and AirTag 2.

Battery life gains stem from disabling seldom‑used features such as gestures, Start Workout reminders, and Raise to Speak. watchOS 27 is compatible with Apple Watch Series 9 and later, Ultra 2 and newer, and Apple Watch SE 3. The update arrives in September, positioning Apple to enhance everyday utility while keeping the smartwatch lineup streamlined for all users.
