Philips Hue launches affordable Play lamps and new candle bulbs

Philips Hue expanded its Hue Entertainment line Tuesday with two new luminaires: the Play Table Lamp and the Play Floor Lamp Large. Both adopt the slim, linear silhouette of the earlier Signe models and project color‑changing light onto walls or surfaces behind them. When paired with the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box or Hue Sync apps, the lamps react to games, movies and music synchronously.

The table lamp stands 23.6 inches tall, while the floor version reaches 53 inches, both supporting Chromasync for precise hue matching. Pricing undercuts the premium gradient series at $80 for the table lamp and $150 for the floor lamp. Alongside the fixtures, Hue introduced new candle bulbs featuring Matter over Thread, a 20,000K full‑spectrum range and 40 % energy savings.

All three products ship today from the Philips Hue website, giving consumers a lower‑cost path into immersive lighting without replacing existing hubs. The affordable Play lamps broaden the appeal of synchronized ambience for living‑room setups, while the upgraded candle bulbs push Hue toward broader Matter compatibility and tighter energy standards. The lineup now covers both dramatic wall wash and subtle tabletop illumination.
