Leaked Black Apple Vision Pro Parts Hint at Future Model While Development Paused

Images of all-black power strap and audio pod components for an unreleased Apple Vision headset surfaced via X account @LusiRoy8, showing identical design to existing Vision Pro hardware but with a dark finish not available commercially. The leaker claims these belong to a second-generation Apple Vision Pro in black, marking the second such leak in recent months.

Previous leaks from last year suggested Apple was testing a thinner, lighter mixed-reality headset codenamed 'Vision Air' with titanium components and Midnight coloring. The company was widely expected to release both a lower-cost Vision Air and redesigned Vision Pro before shifting priorities. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported in October that Apple paused all Vision headset development to accelerate AI-powered smart glasses work.

Despite recent reports claiming Apple abandoned the headset entirely, Gurman indicates the company hasn't fully walked away from Vision Pro, though consumers face a wait of at least two years for any successor. Former Vision Products Group members have reportedly been reassigned to the smart glasses team, along with efforts to bolster Siri chatbot development.

Apple's focus has clearly shifted toward AI wearables, including AirPods with cameras and an AI pendant, while the Vision Pro received only an M5 chip refresh in October 2025. The leaked parts suggest development may resume eventually, but the mixed-reality headset market appears stalled as Apple pursues different wearable strategies.
